The Trombone Section

Dave Candy

Born in the West Country (where men are men and sheep are nervous), Dave studied Trombone at the Universities of Leeds and North Texas State. After graduating, he took to life on the high seas where he backed such luminaries as Jim Bowen, Chas & Dave and The Krankies, and promptly took to alcoholism. Today he's a resident of Enfield's many fine pubs and drinking establishments. He can also be found playing in big bands, latin groups and shows throughout London. His ambitions include being the loudest and dirtiest player of any band he's in. His achievements include being the loudest and dirtiest player of any band he's been in. Outside music, Dave's a die-hard supporter of Portsmouth Football Club (another reason for his ongoing relationship with alcohol).

Roy Young

Roy has been a trombonist on the London music scene since 1989. He learnt to play the violin at the age of 7 but quickly had the good sense to give it up and take up the trombone instead (an instrument much more suited to his personality!) He then learnt to play with local brass bands and Haringey Youth Music ensembles. He now regularly plays with several bands and orchestras throughout the London area and can also be found in the pits of many local theatres playing for 'am dram' shows.

Predictably, his other interests include a passion for Real Ale and Chicken Madras (which sometimes makes him unpopular with the others in the Trombone section!)

Hayley Barker

Ollie King

Born in West London, Ollie took a brief foray as far north as Loughborough for a degree in Electronic and Electrical Engineering. He is now based in Enfield where he works for local software company Data Connection. Apart from several big bands, he also plays in smaller jazz groups and occasional orchestral concerts. When not tearing his hair out as a result of running the Urban, he also enjoys flying planes.
